The fundamental of being a parent, however, remains keeping your child safe. One way to do that is by keeping your child rear-facing in the car for as long as possible. Why? Simply because it is the absolute safest way to travel.

Depending on your child’s age, classmates or friends may start travelling in a forward direction. This does not mean your child is tall, big, or mature enough to do the same. Before switching your child forward-facing, please consider these points:

A child’s head weighs disproportionately more than an adult.

At the same time, the neck on a child is not fully developed and thus extra vulnerable.

The crash forces acting on the neck is about five times greater for a child seated forward-facing than rear-facing.

Safety first

We at Axkid cannot recommend enough the safety benefits of travelling rear-facing for as long as possible. Each “extra” year sitting rear-faced, means one more year of additional protection. For us it’s simple: safety first.
