Axkid has been successful in the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021. The international jury have awarded Axkid ONE the distinction “Red Dot”, which stands for high design quality.

“The winners of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021 were particularly impressive this year. The design of their products is excellent, in terms of the aesthetics and the functionality. It is not easy to win over our judges and prevail in such a strong field of competitors. Axkid ONE – Where the highest safety standard and functionality meet ergonomic design.

Almost 4 years of design and engineering work has been required to succeed with the uniqueness of the Axkid ONE. Hundreds of crash tests have been completed in order to by far meet today’s safety regulations. Axkid ONE’s unique design allows true rear-facing all the way up to approx. 6-7 years compared to all similar products that only go up to approx. 4 years of age.

Inspired by aircraft engineering, Axkid One’s protective aluminium frame maintains the structure of the car seat while the high strength steel bars withstand and direct the forces of the impact away from the child’s body in the event of an accident. Axkid ONE is the only car seat in the world with ISOFIX and the height limit of 125cm to pass the extremely tough crash test, the Plus Test.

Axkid ONE also comes with a simple on-seat-installation guide, based on step-by-step signs and 6 different safety indicators, distinctive either by colour or by audible system to ensure a correct, easy, and smooth installation.

Evaluation platform for good design

The Red Dot Award: Product Design dates as far back as 1955 and recognises the best products for a given year. Almost 50 judges were once again true to their motto “In search of good design and innovation” in the 2021 competition. The international panel of experts comprises specialists from a wide variety of sectors. They scrutinised the products entered in the competition in a process that spanned several days and were guided by assessment criteria such as the product’s formal quality, ergonomics and longevity.

We at Axkid are very proud and honoured that Axkid ONE once again is being acknowledge for it’s unique design and it’s boundary pushing difference that it has done for the car seat industry.

In order to appraise the diversity in the field of design in a professional manner, the Red Dot Design Award breaks down into the three disciplines of Red Dot Award: Product Design, Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design and Red Dot Award: Design Concept. With more than 18,000 entries, the Red Dot Award is one of the world’s largest design competitions. In 1955, a jury convened for the first time to assess the best designs of the day. Axkid ONE in exhibitions, online and in the yearbook

Axkid ONE can be seen in the online exhibition on the Red Dot website from 21 June 2021. That date also marks the beginning of the Red Dot Design Week, during which this year’s award winners and Axkid will be celebrated online.

From 22 June 2021, Axkid ONE will also be included in the exhibition “Design on Stage” in the Red Dot Design Museum Essen, where all of the award-winning products are showcased. Visitors to the museum can experience the quality of the designs in a space that features contemporary design solutions and historical industrial architecture. The Red Dot Design Yearbook 2021/2022 comes out in August. The publication provides a comprehensive overview of the state of the art and trends in product design.
