Changing from a rear-facing car seat to a forward-facing booster seat

At Axkid we recommend changing from a rear-facing car seat to a forward-facing booster seat later than the regulations state. It is difficult to say exactly when your child will change from a rear-facing to a forward-facing car seat. Up to about 6-7 years of age, children can sit backwards, but it is mainly the length that determines when it is time for the child to ride forwards. We prefer that the switch to forward-facing travel takes place after the child has passed 125 cm. When your child has grown out of a rear-facing car seat, but has not yet reached the optimal length for the car’s three-point seat belt, it is time to change to a forward-facing booster seat or booster cushion.

It is the position of the seat belt that determines whether your child should have a booster seat or booster cushion. If the belt ends up too far out on the child’s shoulder or over the child’s stomach in a booster cushion, it is best to wait with it and choose a booster seat instead. The booster seat is equipped with a so-called belt adjuster that ensures that the seat belt is in the correct position. Booster cushion

The very last time before the child has the length inside the car’s three-point belt, the booster cushion is recommended. The booster cushion is suitable for children between 10, 11 and 12 years and with a length of less than 135 cm. The car cushion makes the car journey safer for children up to 36 kilos. The booster cushion is flexible and easy to move between different cars or to take with you on the trip. The upholstery can be easily removed to be machine washed if needed. The car cushion can be used in all seats where there is a three-point belt and where the airbag is disconnected. According to Swedish legislation, children who are shorter than 135 centimeters must use a child car seat, booster cushion or other special protective device instead of or together with the seat belt.
