Ultimate Guide – How to Clean Your Car Seat
Wash your car seat fabric
Children will always be children.Shoes bathed in mud and hands which have thoroughly examined the breakfast table do not always have time to be washed before a child jumps into their car seat. The playful life will probably leave its marks on the car seat. There is a simple way to let children be children, and at the same time offer the car seat a long lifetime.
Scientists at the University of Birmingham, discovered that child car seats have twice as many dangerous germs as an average toilet. Therefore, to get rid of all the unwanted spillage and dirt, here is a step-by-step guide for cleaning and maintaining a clean seat – Read the full article here!

Step 1. Preparing to Clean Your Car Seat
Keeping your car seat clean is essential for maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for your child.
We recommend using soft towels and a sponge for wet spot cleaning. Make sure to use a gentle soap without any harsh chemicals or fragrances that could be dangerous for sensitive babies. Start by wiping off all the solid debris and other nasty messes that need to be picked away before continuing on the cover and harness. For any wet spots or spills, use a sponge dipped in a mixture of warm water and soap. Important to note: avoid soaps with harsh chemicals and any products containing solvent because it can have a negative impact on the plastic material and thereof the safety of the seat. Be attentive when you choose your cleaning products.
Step 2. Remove the car seat cover
All of our car seats are unique, and therefore the design of the upholstery is also different. Velcro, elastic and zips are conveniently and discreetly integrated into the textiles so that you can easily put them on and remove them on your own. The upholstery of the car seat is soft and comfortable, while at the same time it resists light wear and tear such as dust, stains, and dry dirt and the car seat can easily be washed in a normal washing machine at 30°C – do not tumble dry.

To get full instructions of how to remove the cover you can click on the link below that easily demonstrates how to remove your Axkid Minikid cover. Be careful when you remove the padding around the adjustment strap lock. It can easily be damaged if it clicks out.
Step 3. Clean the cover and harness
When the fabric cover is removed you toss it in the washing machine. Apart from the fabric cover, it is important to clean the harness and the buckle. The harness can be cleaned but not in a washing machine, it can harm the tensile strength of the textile webbing and therefore make it unsafe. What you could do is to wash it by hand with a soft towel and unscented soap.
Step 4. Reassemble the seat
When everything is cleaned, dried and aired out it is time to reassemble the seat. Make sure all the snaps, loops etc. are attached on the cover as well as the loose pieces you took out when the seat cover was in the wash. If you have any questions regarding the reinstalment of the car seat, you can always refer to your manual or contact us.
