Are you looking for a rear facing car seat for a child over 20 lbs? Axkid offers many rear facing car seats, both ISOFIX and seat belt attached car seats. If your child weighs around 20 lbs, Axkid recommends a rear-facing car seat rather than a forward-facing car seat. Travelling rear-facing protects the neck and spine of children in a better way than forward-facing and reduces the risk of injury in the event of a collision.

When is the right time to change from a baby carrier to a rear facing car seat?

When your baby weighs around 20 pounds, it’s time to transition out of the infant carrier and It’s time for a rear-facing car seat for your child. Even if your baby weighs 20 pounds, but is younger than 15 months, he or she must travel rear-facing due to the UK law. Axkid recommends investing in a car seat that allows rear-facing up to 50 pounds, 55 pounds or even 80 pounds so you can use your seat for longer. Axkid recommends a rear-facing car seat rather than a forward-facing car seat.

Why is rear facing safer?

Travelling rear-facing protects the neck and spine of children weighing 20lbs in a better way than forward-facing and reduces the risk of injury in the event of a collision. Investing in a ERF (extended rear-facing) car seat now when your child is only 20 lbs, makes it possible to only have to buy one car seat until the age of 6-7 years. Rear facing for longer = safety for longer.

Rear-facing by law

The UK law states that children up to 15 months must travel rear facing. Axkid recommends travelling rear-facing up to 6-7 years.
