How long should my child stay in a rear-facing car seat, and when is it time to switch?

In the UK, the law states that babies must travel in a rear-facing car seat until at least 15 months old—but this is just the legal minimum. Research and safety data consistently show that it’s best to keep children rear-facing for as long as they fit safely in the seat.
