Our high back booster seat Axkid Bigkid 2 has been designed to accommodate the older children to be safe in the car even after the rear-facing period. The long back length allows children all the way up to 150cm to sit safe and comfortably.

The Axkid Bigkid 2 comes now in two new executions, both of them in the Axkid Minikid’s popular colours. But what is the actual difference between the Axkid Bigkid 2 and Axkid Bigkid 2 Premium – let us explain.

The premium version of the Axkid Bigkid 2 differs from the Bigkid 2 mainly in two ways, the fabric and the belt guide.

• The fabric – Axkid Bigkid 2 premium comes in a melange fabric that gives the car seat a more luxury feeling, and the foam seating and the fitting gets extra comfortable for you child.
• The belt guide – Axkid Bigkid 2 Premium comes with a more detailed belt guiding including a fourth point of contact for the vehicle threepoint belt. The fourth point ensures the lap belt is in a correct and safe position, routed over the strong hipbone and not over the soft stomach of your child. » Updated toddler support cushion
The Axkid Minikid 4 comes with a new design of the extra inlay that is recommended to be used from 61cm up to 105cm. The baby/toddler support cushion is made in comfortable memory foam to seat your little child into the perfect position to ideally benefit from the car seat’s safety. The inlay also features a mesh on the back panel promoting better airflow.

» New textile
The Minikid 4 features a brand-new textile that’s even softer and more breathable than before, providing your child with a comfortable seating experience. The new textile has the same padding as the previous Minikid 3 Premium which means additional padding in the textile for a higher comfort for your child.

» Updated details and finish

Axkid Minikid has been on the market for almost 10 years. It is a loved product by both children and parents due to the high level of safety and the ability to remain rear-faced for longer.  A new generation of Minikid has now entered the market – Axkid Minikid 3. And since we know you all love comparisons, we have summarised below some of the key differences between the bestseller Axkid Minikid 2 and the new generation Axkid Minikid 3.

Before going through these differences, we want you to understand how complex a car seat is. The development of Minikid 3 has been a process of over 4 years to make sure every single detail is perfect whilst creating the maximum safety and best overall experience for both children and parents. We have chosen to point out some of the main changes below.

• R129 approved up to impressive 125cm and 36kg

Axkid Minikid 3 is approved according to the R129 regulation which is the most recent safety regulation within the car seat industry. The Axkid Minikid 3 is approved up to the impressive 125cm and 36kg while the Axkid Minikid 2 which is approved according to the ECE R44 regulation, where you only approve by weight, and is approved up to 25kg.

However, please note that both Minikid 2 and Minikid 3 have both passed the toughest crash test in the world, The Swedish Plus test which is way beyond the limits for approval in both R129 and ECE R44.

• Approximately 10cm longer back length allowing rear-facing for even longer

The Axkid Minikid 3 benefits from an increase of approximately 10cm in the back length meaning your child can now travel rear-faced for even longer. The Axkid Minikid 3 really stretches the market with these measurements and allows your child to sit comfortably in the car seat for even longer.

• The position of the buckle – increased comfort and safety

The buckle has been repositioned on the Axkid Minikid 3 allowing extra room for your child to grow within the car seat and a higher level of comfort allowing your child to remain in the car seat for even longer. And of course, the current ideal position of the buckle on the Axkid Minikid 3 also fits even the smallest children.

• Easier installation – supportive Easy installation system and interactive 3D guide

Seat belt attached car seats have a rumour that they are difficult to install. Well, with the Axkid Minikid 3 this is now only a memory long gone. Not only with the decrease in installation steps and smart features such as the automatic lower tether and smoother side retractors, the Axkid Minikid 3 differs from its predecessor when it comes to the supportive Easy Installation System and the interactive 3D guide.
The installation of Minikid 3 can now be done in approx 60 seconds.

• New headrest design for safety and comfort

The headrest design is updated into a V-shape developed with a force-absorbing technology giving your child the best protection in the event of a collision. The V shape design of the headrest also makes it easy for your child to see out of the window and helps to avoid head-flop.

• Updated textile cover and increased comfort

The textile cover for Minikid 3 features a new, soft two way stretch fabric with high density laminate. Thanks to the choice of material the seat covers are even simpler to remove and of course, just like Minikid 2, the fabric is machine washable and made from toxic-free materials

• Toddler support cushion

The Axkid Minikid 3 comes with a new design of the toddler support cushion, previously called Baby Cushion on the Axkid Minikid 2. The updated design makes it easier to fit even the smallest of children as it raises them up in the seat as well as offering a solid side support. An increase of comfort is surely achieved with the new design since the toddler support cushion is made from memory foam and a mesh fabric in the back for air circulation.

• A more flexible design

Speaking about the differences between Axkid Minikid 3 and 2 makes us almost forget one of the most visible changes. The design of the seat itself is completely updated, however, the compact yet spacious design remains as one of the key features of the seat. The new design is inclusive to allow all children, not depending on length or size, to sit even more comfortably in the car seat. And, for those of you needing more car seats in your car, you can now more easily install three of them in the back at the same time!

Installation – Seatbelt vs ISOFIX

The first and most relevant difference between the seats is how each is installed in the car.  Axkid Minikid 3 is a seatbelt attached car seat meaning the car seat is installed using the vehicle three-point adult seat belt. This gives you flexibility to install it in almost all cars and easily fit the car seat in the front.

The Axkid ONE 2 car seat is installed with ISOFIX, which is an internationally standardised car seat fitting system. All vehicles manufactured after 2014 should be featured with ISOFIX anchor points, most of them in the back seats but some cars also in the front.

But is there any safety difference between the two types of installation? The simple answer is no. However, an ISOFIX installation is considered easier to fit, reducing the human factor of doing anything wrong.

Approved weight and length

Both Axkid Minikid 3 and Axkid ONE 2 are approved up to a length of 125cm. However, the weight limits differ between the seats. ISOFIX points in the vehicle have a maximum combined total weight limit of car seat and child of 33kg. As the Axkid ONE 2 weighs just 10kg, this gives your child the opportunity to stay in the seat up to 23kg.  A seat belt attached car seat does not have the same limits meaning that we can have Axkid Minikid 3 approved up to 125cm and 36kg!

Please note though that the average length for a 7 year old in Sweden is about 125cm and the average weight about 25kg meaning both of the car seats allow real extended rear-facing.

Automatic headrest vs 12 fixed positions

Both of the car seats have an adaptive design to make you child able to grow within and to stay rear-faced for as long as possible. The Axkid Minikid 3 comes with an automatic headrest that automatically adjusts to your child’s length and size. The Axkid ONE 2 comes instead with a headrest including 12 fixed positions that you easily adjust with just one hand to find the ideal position for your child.

Multiple recline vs Advanced Sleep Well System

The Axkid Minikid 3 comes with a front leg featured multiple reclining positions. This needs to be adjusted before the installation is done. Axkid ONE 2 comes instead with an Advanced Sleep Well system making it possible to adjust the recline of the seat during the ride.

Legroom

How much legroom the car seats allow your child depends mainly on the car. Axkid Minikid 3 can, depending on the car gives your child about 30cm legroom. The leg room is decided when installing the car seat and can after that not being changed unless you uninstall the car seat. The Axkid ONE 2 though features a sliding seat  technology making it possible to adjust the leg room with just one hand.  The seat can slide the seat back and forth after the installation and even when your child is in the car seat.

Cost

We cannot avoid the fact that there is a price difference between the two car seats. Axkid ONE 2 costs £625.00 while the Axkid Minikid 3 costs from £460.00.
With the price difference we must mention the uniqueness of the Axkid ONE 2. It is the only isofix car seat on the market approved up to 125cm and 23kg, allowing your child to rear-face longer than any other isofix car seat on the market.
