At Axkid, sustainability has a high focus. Our mission extends beyond profits to saving children’s lives and fostering a more sustainable world. Everything we do is for the children, their parents, their grandparents, their friends, for all the adventures ahead.

This is Axkid
We’re proud to be pioneers of extended rear-facing car seats and advocates for children’s traffic safety. Our vision is to set new standards for children’s safety in traffic while also working towards a better, more sustainable world.
Recognising that the youngest explorers deserve the best protection and comfort, we draw on our Swedish heritage in safety, innovation, and design to create some of the safest car seats available. Our commitment to pioneering children’s traffic safety goes beyond products, we´re dedicated to sharing our knowledge and educating others about children’s safety in traffic.
Guided by our core values of Knowledge, Innovation, Dedication and Sustanability, we’re committed to continuous improvement, both in ourselves and our products. We do this to bring adventures to children and peace of mind to parents.
About usSafety on the roads
Our mission is to safeguard children’s lives and foster a better, more sustainable world. We achieve this by prioritising safety and providing families with peace of mind through rear-facing car seats, a proven lifesaving solution.
Research indicates that rear-facing car seats offer up to five times greater safety compared to forward-facing seats for children. This heightened safety is attributed to the unique physiology of children – they are not miniature adults, but rather individuals with developing bodies and distinct proportions.

How are we adressing our main topics
Sustainablity is not only about emissions, it is about all our impacts on the world. One of our biggest impacts is the positive effect of children travelling safer in rear facing seats. This is accomplished through spreading infoarmtion to inform parents about the benefits of extended rear facing travel. We work to provide consumers with accurate and well-founded information on why rear-facing is the safest way for a child to travel in a car. We arrange events like our Safety conference in 2024 to spread information.
We analyse and create scenarios for possible future developments and adapt our strategies accordingly.
We work with our products, which is our main source of greenhouse gas emissions, through different initiatives. We put high focus on analysing and learning where our emissions come from and what we can do to mitigate them.
Providing solutions that enable rearfacing travel for as long as possible. Tested in real life and going beyond regulations to provide real life safety to provide parents with ease of mind and confidence about their choice.
We address this topic in many ways including new business models that use a circular approach, extending the lifespan of our products, enabling service and repairs to a high degree utilising recycled materials and making products easier to recycle. All of these activities aim to cerate a cyclic environment for our products, where waste and emissions are minimized.
*In the sustainability area there are an almost endless amount of topics that can be relevant. It is not possible to focus on all of them and every company will have different areas that are important. We need to find what topics are most relevant for our company. To do this we use a materiality assessment. It’s a robust tool for assessing the significance of sustainability factors to our business. It integrates insights from stakeholder engagement and financial analysis, offering a comprehensive view of our material topics. Through our assessment we have concluded that our five main topics, listed above, are the ones where we can make a positive difference on the world!
What are we doing to reduce our product emissions?
Efficient design
All our products are developed under the principle of using the right materials in the right place. We make our plastic parts thinner than normal and let robust steel parts bear the loads.
Use recycled materials
Changing materials of our current products to recycled materials.
This reduces our resource use and over time will make products more circular.
Transfer to renewable energy in the supply chain
Parts of our emissions are related to the manufacturing and treatment of parts for our products. These processes require energy, and we strive to influence our supply chain to transfer to renewable energy sources.
Energy efficiency in production
We work with our suppliers to increase the energy efficiency
in the production of our parts.
Extend product lifetime
We have created an initiative to set requirements, define methods and targets for extending the product lifetime through engineering changes and specifications in new product development.
Make recycling of products easier.
To become circular, the products need to be efficient to return materials to the material flows through recycling. This requires redesign of existing products and specifications and processes for new product development.

Sustainability initatives
Examples of updates and innovations on our journey.

Recycled Textiles as Standard
From late 2024, all Axkid-developed products feature upholstery made from recycled polyester — primarily sourced from PET bottles. We go beyond legal requirements by testing for banned chemicals, ensuring both safety and sustainability.

Recycled Packaging
In 2024, we transitioned to using packaging with 70% recycled content for all internally developed products — a significant step for our large-scale packaging footprint. Today, 25% of materials across our entire product range are recycled. We also use water based ink for printing.

Digital Product Manuals
Starting in 2024, all Axkid car seats come with digital manuals, reducing paper waste and ensuring real-time access to the latest safety instructions. Interactive versions are being rolled out in 2025 to further improve usability.

Mechanical Solutions Over Electronics
To reduce the climate impact associated with electronics, we’ve replaced the electronic support leg indicator on the Axkid One 3 with a mechanical solution. It offers a robust, maintenance-free design and helps lower the product’s total carbon emissions.

Axkid Care
Axkid Care is our rental program operational in Sweden and through partners in Germany, presenting a distinctive value chain where products are returned to us post-rental for refurbishment and reuse. The flow of products begins with their return to Axkid, where they undergo thorough safety checks, cleaning, and preparation for subsequent use. Each product is meticulously inspected against extensive checklists to ensure safety and quality.
Axkid Care not only provides value to customers through flexible rental options but also supports our commitment to sustainability by promoting the reuse and recycling of products. This circular business model helps reduce waste and environmental impact, aligning with our broader sustainability objectives.
The people behind Axkid
At Axkid, we make no compromises on safety. The world’s youngest explorers require the best protection and comfort. Drawing on our Swedish heritage in safety, innovation, and design, we are producing some of the safest car seats available today and been doing so since 2009.
Everything we do is for the children, their parents, their grandparents, their friends, and for all the adventures ahead.
About us

Sustainability is a journey
We Know It’s Not Perfect — Yet. However, we’re proud of the steps we’ve taken so far. But we also recognize there’s more to do. As an example, in 2024, only 19% of our energy in the supply chain was renewable and only 26% of our material were recycled. That’s why we continue to challenge ourselves, support our partners, and innovate for a cleaner, safer future.
